We Are What We Eat! The European Project "Food and People"

On the 23 of January we were invited to the meeting in the Garibaldi Theatre in Lucera. The reason of this big event was quite fascinating for me as last week one of the schools of Lucera hosted an exchange between high school students from four countries: Italy, Poland, Spain and France. The topic they discussed was very actual and important for the young people nowadays. The project named “Food and People” included different kinds of interactive activities, excursions around the region and visits to the local farms and pasta factories, cooking workshops etc. All of them were meant to make the young generation realize the importance of healthy life style and healthy nutrition.
The working language of the project was English thus all the participants were encouraged to use the foreign language.
It was great experience for us to be invited to this meeting as I believe events like this are very important for all of us. We have a unique chance to get in touch with other cultures, traditions, typical food and a different lifestyle. They broaden our knowledge about other nations and cultures. They make us aware that the world is not as big as it seems and we all are citizens of our common world.
In the future we plan to continue our collaboration with the high school students to let them know about EVS and the opportunities it offers to them.
